While some call it Teacher Appreciation Week, we embrace STAFF Appreciation Week at EASD. As this week draws to a close, we celebrate the commendable work of our entire Mountaineer team and the role they play in inspiring ALL students to reach their full potential. #MountsPride

Congrats to our recent Substitutes of the Month: Leona Miller (pictured here with Food Service Director Teri Gamez) and Lori Lehman. These valued substitutes help across all schools in both food service and in classrooms. We are so grateful for their support!

Highland second-graders recently created advertisements for Bank of Bird-in-Hand. They were thrilled when bank representatives visited to thank them in person! We greatly value these community connections and the authentic #EASDLifeReady connections they provide for our learners!

On National School Lunch Hero Day, we are thanking our amazing food service staff for all they do! School lunches sure aren’t what they used to be… In fact, today EHS students sampled tamales, pepper jack pretzel bites, and mini chocolate lava cakes!

It’s the 20th anniversary of the Ephrata Area Education Foundation! We are so grateful for all they do to support innovation and inspire achievement for our students and staff! Thanks to all who celebrated with us!

Celebrating Public Education: Highland Elementary School Kindergarteners showed all they've learned and created as part of their year-long Cornerstone which is focused on the question, "Why are animals important in our community?"

Our incoming Kindergartners are having a blast at our school "Kindergarten, Here I Come" events!

The Ephrata Area School District recently received a donation - over $3,500 - from the GIANT Company to be used within the Food Services Department. Through the Feeding School Kids initiative, the GIANT Company and its customers raised money to address the issue of childhood hunger throughout local public school districts in the communities they serve. Customers at GIANT stores were invited to round up their grocery purchases to the nearest dollar or convert their “choice” points into a donation for their local public schools’ food programs. “We are grateful for this donation. It will aid in ensuring that all students in the District have adequate access to meals, helping students to reach their full potential,” stated District Food Service Director Teri Gamez. Meet A Mountaineer

Congratulations to Lori Long who was named the VFW Teacher of the Year at the local, district, and state levels! Mrs. Long is a true example of #MountsPride! She has taught for nearly 34 years at EASD and served in every one of our elementary schools. This is a very well deserved recognition, especially as she looks forward to retirement at the end of this school year.

On Paraprofessional Appreciation Day, we extend a sincere thank you to these Mountaineers who go above and beyond every day. Their job is not an easy one, and we appreciate their hard work and dedication to making a difference in students' lives!

REMINDER: Students' spring break begins tomorrow Thursday, March 28 and runs through Monday, April 1. EASD offices will be closed on Friday, March 20 only. Best wishes for a safe and happy break. We will look forward to having students back on Tuesday, April 2.
